REPUBLIC ACT No. 11040

An Act Declaring April 27 of Every Year as a Special Working Public Holiday Throughout the Country and a Special Nonworking Holiday in the City of Lapu-Lapu, Province of Cebu, to Commemorate the Victory of Lapu-Lapu and his Men Over the Spaniards Led by Ferdinand Magellan in the Historic Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, To be known as Lapu-Lapu Day or Adlaw ni Lapu-Lapu

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Lapu-Lapu Day. - The twenty-seventh day of April of every year is hereby declared as a special working public holiday throughout the country and a special nonworking holiday in the City of Lapu-Lapu, Province of Cebu, to commemorate the victory of Lapu-Lapu and his men over the Spaniards in the historic Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, to be known as Lapu-Lapu Day or Adlaw ni Lapu-Lapu.1âwphi1

Section 2. Repealing Clause. - All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations or other issuances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealead or modified accordingly.

Section 3. Effectivity. -This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days following the completion of its publication either in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.
