REPUBLIC ACT No. 3492

An Act Creating the Municipality of Villanueva in the Province of Misamis Oriental

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. The barrios of Villanueva, Nabacaan, Bulacanas, San Martin and Kimaya are hereby separated from the Municipality of Tagoloan, Province of Misamis Oriental, and constituted into a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Villanueva with the seat of government at the site of the present barrio of Villanueva.

Section 2. The boundaries of the Municipality of Villanueva will be as follows:

"Beginning at point "1" on plan on the west where the Puga-an River meets at the mouth of Tagoloan River , to point "2" to the coast of Macajalar Bay N. 77° 42’ W. approximately 600 meters, then following the shoreline N. 18° 30’ E., a distance of 2,100 meters to point "3", thence N. 56° 15’ E., a distance of 3,050 meters to point "4", thence N. 10° 00’ W. a distance of 700 meters to point "5", thence due east at a distance of 6,200 meters to point "6" (Jasaan-Villanueva boundary), thence S. 45° 30’ W. a distance of 4,300 meters to point "7" on Puga-an River, thence following its course S. 16° 20’ W. a distance of 740 meters to point "8", thence S. 71° 50’ W. a distance of 880 meters to point "9", thence S. 14° 30’ W. a distance of 1,340 meters to point "10", thence N. 65° 30’ W. along Tagpayo Creek, a distance of 1,600 meters to point "11", thence following its course N. 86° 30’ W. a distance of 600 meters to point "12", thence S. 53° 15’ W. a distance of 1,100 meters to point "13" thence S. 89° 00’ W. a distance of 2,300 meters to point "14", thence N. 70° 45’ W. a distance of 3,600 meters to point "15", thence S. 69° 00’ W. a distance of 400 meters to point "16" where the Puga-an River meets Tagpayao Creek, thence, S. 75° 30’ W. a distance of 1,200 meters to point "1", the point of beginning."

Section 3. The first mayor, vice-mayor and councilors of the municipality shall be appointed by the President of the Philippines with the consent of the Commission of Appointments and shall continue in office until their successors shall have been elected and shall have qualified in the next election for local officials.1âшphi1

Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
