REPUBLIC ACT No. 1624

An Act to Amend Section Twenty-One, Sub-Section (c) of Commonwealth Act Numbered One by Increasing the Regular Annual Training of Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from Twenty-One Days to Thirty Days, and Further Amending Section Eighty-Five of Commonwealth Act Numbered One by Making Certain Additional Classes of Persons Qualified for Assignment as Instructors in the Preparatory Military Training

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. Section twenty-one, subsection (c) of Commonwealth Act Numbered One is hereby amended to read as follows:

"The President may attach to regular units or may assign to duty with any component of the Regular Force such number or reserve officers as he may deem necessary. All periods of such duty as do not exceed thirty days annually shall be considered as regular annual training; all periods in excess of thirty days annually shall be classed as extended tours of active duty."

Section 2. Section eighty-five of Commonwealth Act Numbered One is also amended to read as follows:

"Instructors for cadets shall be assigned from qualified male teachers in schools who are members of the Reserve Force or who have satisfactorily completed any course of military instruction which would qualify a person for a commission in the Armed forces of the Philippines.

"Instructors for the Junior Reserve shall be assigned from the officers and men of the Regular Force or of the Reserve Force.

"Qualified instructors in the Preparatory Military Training may be required by the Chief of Staff to undergo annual active duty training for not more than thirty days in any calendar year. While undergoing such training they shall be furnished subsistence, suitable quarters and transportation furnishable to reserve officers on annual active duty training."

Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
