DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 5 TO 11, 2010 AS “HOG FARMERS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI), is a non-stock, non-profit umbrella organization of 48 autonomous livestock associations, with a total individual membership of more than 5,000 hog farmers;

WHEREAS, the NFHFI will hold its 19th Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits on April 8 to 10, 2010 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Davao City;

WHEREAS, there is a need to strengthen the hog farmers livelihood through best practices in animal production and vigilance in animal health amidst challenges affecting the swine industry while striving to produce good quality animals, meat and meat products ready for market to an increasing Filipino population;

WHEREAS, hog farmers need to be recognized for their major contribution to the livestock industry and their means to rate high per capita consumption of the Filipino as well as their important role in the governments effort towards food sufficiency;

WHEREAS, the NFHFI empowers and encourages its members for the continuing development of their expertise, abilities and networking expanse.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 5 to 11, 2010 as “Hog Farmers Week”.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
