DECLARING MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2002, AS A SPECIAL NON-WORKING DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA

WHEREAS, every year the City of Manila celebrates June 24 as “Araw ng Maynila” in commemoration of the founding of the City as the premier Christian City of Asia;

WHEREAS, Monday, June 24, 2002, marks the 431st Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, the residents of Manila, conscious of the historical and cultural significance of the event, desire to celebrate the same with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Monday, June 24, 2002, as a special non-working day in the City of Manila.
