DECLARING JUNE 9 OF EVERY YEAR AS FILIPINO-CHINESE FRIENDSHIP DAY

WHEREAS, the Philippines and China are neighbors in the Asia Pacific sharing a tradition of friendship dating back to ancient days;

WHEREAS, friendly contacts, cultural exchanges, and economic and trade relations between the two countries have been increasing through the years;

WHEREAS, the continuing friendship between the peoples of the Philippines and China will enhance the mutually beneficial relations between the two countries and also contribute to the peace and harmony in the Asia Pacific region;

WHEREAS, it is thus fitting to designate one day in the year as Philippine-China Friendship Day to celebrate all that both countries enjoy and cherish together especially in the fields of socio-cultural, economic, and educational cooperation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 9 of every year, as Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day, coinciding with the celebration of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
