DECLARING FRIDAY JANUARY 18, 2002 AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KALIBO, AKLAN

WHEREAS, the Province of Aklan celebrates the Ati-Atihan Festival every month of January to depict and commemorate the way of life during the period when the ten (10) Bornean Datus landed on and purchased the Island of Panay to settle thereon for a life of peace and freedom;

WHEREAS, the Ati-Atihan Festival highlights the rich cultural heritage of the Filipino and the customs and traditions of Aklan as a province;

WHEREAS, the Ati-Atihan Festival has significantly contributed to the promotion of our tourism industry.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday January 18, 2002 as a special public holiday in the Municipality of Kalibo, Aklan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
