DECLARING SEPTEMBER 20 OF EVERY YEAR AS “ESCODA DAY” THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, Josefa Llanes Escoda was the Founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines and considered as one of the countrys most outstanding Filipino women who championed the cause of civil and social services;

WHEREAS, September 20 marks her birth anniversary;

WHEREAS, to memorialize her heroic exploits and Girl Scouting ideals which she passed on as legacy to the young girls of the Philippines, it is but fitting and proper to set aside a day in her honor;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 20 of every year as “Escoda Day” throughout the country. Escoda Day shall, unless specifically proclaimed, remain as a working day.1aшphi1
