[ Proclamation No. 402, October 20, 2000 ]

DECLARING SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2000, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KORONADAL, PROVINCE OF SOUTH COTABATO

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8803 provides for the conversion of the Municipality of Koronadal, South Cotabato into a component city to be known as the City of Koronadal and mandates the holding of plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 3245 dated September 21, 2000, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Sunday, October 8, 2000;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as a special day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Sunday, October 8, 2000, as a special day in the Municipality of Koronadal, South Cotabato.
