[ Proclamation No. 401, September 20, 2000 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2000, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MASBATE, PROVINCE OF MASBATE

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8807 provides for the conversion of the Municipality of Masbate, Masbate into a component city to be known as the City of Masbate and mandates the holding of plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 3213 dated September 7, 2000, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Saturday, September 30, 2000;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as a special day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, September 30, 2000, as a special day in the Municipality of Masbate, Masbate.
