DECLARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2000, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE

WHEREAS, Josefa Llanes Escoda is considered as one of the countrys most industrious Filipino women who championed the cause of the civic and social services and was the Founder of the Girls Scouts of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, Wednesday, September 20, 2000, marks the 102nd birth anniversary of the late Josefa Llanes Escoda;

WHEREAS, to memorialize her heroic exploits and Girl Scouting ideals which she passed on as legacy to the young girls of the Philippines, it is but fitting and proper to give the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte full opportunity to celebrate the day with appropriate tributes and ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27 of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Wednesday, September 20, 2000, as a special day in the Province of Ilocos Norte.
