[ Proclamation Order No. 350, August 9, 2000 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 2000, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MAASIN, SOUTHERN LEYTE

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8796 provides for the conversion of the Municipality of Maasin, Southern Leyte into a component city to be known as the City of Maasin and mandates the holding of plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 3168 dated August 8, 2000, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Thursday, August 10, 2000;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as special day;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, August 10, 2000, as a special day in the Municipality of Maasin, Southern Leyte.1aшphi1
