[ Proclamation No. 257, March 20, 2000 ]

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22, 2000, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CAVITE

WHEREAS, Wednesday, March 22, 2000, marks the 131st birthday anniversary of General Emilio Famy Aguinaldo;

WHEREAS, through his noble and valiant efforts, General Aguinaldo led the Filipino people in declaring the nation sovereign and independent from all foreign colonizers;

WHEREAS, the actions of General Aguinaldo inevitably led to the declaration of Philippine Independence on June 12, 1898 from which the nation was hailed as the first constitutional democracy in Asia;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Cavite be given full opportunity to celebrate the birthday of General Emilio Aguinaldo with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Wednesday, March 22, 2000, as a special day in the Province of Cavite.1aшphi1
