DECLARING A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBAY

Upon recommendation of the Secretary of National Defense as Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, and by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare a state of calamity in the Province of Albay in view of the massive displacement of families caused by the current manifestations of an imminent eruption of Mayon Volcano and the resultant extensive evacuation of residents from the danger zone around the volcano.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.
