DECLARING TUESDAY AUGUST 11, 1998 AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF SAMAR

WHEREAS, Spain declared Samar a province independent of Leyte and Cebu on August 11, 1841, which occasion is now celebrated in the Province of Samar as Samar Day;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Samar be given full opportunity to celebrate this historic event with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book 1, Chapter 7, Section 27 of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Tuesday, August 11, 1998, as a special day in the Province of Samar.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
