DECLARING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS THE

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER MONTH

WHEREAS, organized and spontaneous, volunteerism contribute to the improvement of welfare and realization of peoples aspirations, develop leadership, empower the citizenry and unify civil society;

WHEREAS, volunteers imbued with a humanitarian spirit and selfless service to others, in times past and present, shall be given official recognition for the dedication of their time, talent and money in making a difference in the community and country;

WHEREAS, the celebration of National Volunteer Month will promote volunteerism as a tool for development in both government and private sectors, heighten the “bayanihan” spirit and instill the value of service to others;

WHEREAS, an overall coordinating body tasked to oversee the activities is needed to ensure the effective celebration of National Volunteer Month;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of December of every year as National Volunteer Month under the auspices of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.

All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government units, the private sector and the public at large are hereby enjoined to actively participate and support activities and programs for the celebration of National Volunteer Month.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
