[ Proclamation No. 13, September 4, 1998 ]

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 1998 AS THE NATIONAL REGISTRATION OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS MONTH

WHEREAS, 1998 is the Diamond Year of the accountancy profession;

WHEREAS, since the recognition of the profession by the government on March 17, 1923, Filipino Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) have consistently contributed to nation-building and to the upliftment of the accountancy profession in the Philippines and Asia;

WHEREAS, one of the highlights of the celebration is the conduct of a membership campaign which aims to: obtain statistical data on the current number of accountants, lure back inactive CPAs to the fold of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA); and bring to good standing those whose licenses have not been renewed with the Professional Regulation Commission;

WHEREAS, the campaign initiated by PICPA needs the support of all institutions employing the services of Certified Public Accountants;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 1998 as the National Registration of Certified Public Accountants Month;

Consistent with this Proclamation, all government agencies, local government units, accounting firms, private companies and schools are enjoined to actively support the conduct of the campaign by encouraging the CPAs to register with PICPA during the month of September 1998.1aшphi1
