[ Proclamation No. 1217, May 8, 1998 ]

AUTHORIZING THE RIZAL COUNCIL OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, INC. TO CONDUCT A FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR FOR THE PHILIPPINE CENTENNIAL WHEELATHON

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 125 (S. 1993) was issued for the Nationwide Observance in the Philippines of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons from 1993-2002 and heighten awareness and support for programs and projects benefiting Persons with Disabilities (PWDs);

WHEREAS, the government is committed to promote the physical well-being, self-sufficiency and empowerment of PWDs through the implementation of programs and projects, such as housing, education, livelihood, rehabilitation and sports, among others;

WHEREAS, the Rizal Council of Persons with Disabilities (RCPWD), Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization of PWDs, duly-organized and existing under Philippine laws with Security and Exchange Commission Registration No. AN095-03877 shall conduct the Philippine Centennial Wheelathon on 4 & 7 June 1998 in celebration of the Centennial of the Philippine Independence;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Centennial Wheelathon 1998, a wheelchair race among the physically impaired persons, aims to showcase the capability of PWDs in the field of sports; and,

WHEREAS, there is need to raise funds for the conduct of the Philippine Centennial Wheelathon 1998.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Rizal Council of Persons with Disabilities, Inc. to conduct a fund raising campaign for a period of one (1) year, effective upon promulgation of this Proclamation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
