MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 1197, March 31, 1998 ] AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 857 SEGREGATING 42,226 SQUARE METERS FROM THE OPERATION OF PROCLAMATION NO. 616, SERIES OF 1969 WHICH RESERVED CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND TO THE PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL AND RESERVING THE SAME AS THE PERMANENT SITE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, under Proclamation No. 857, an area of 42,226 square meters of Lot RP-3B-4B-1B-3, PSD-128681, covered by TCT No. 264430, located within the National Government Center in the district of Diliman, Quezon City, was segregated from the operation of Proclamation No. 616 Series of 1969, which reserved a certain parcel of land to the Philippine Science High School, of which a portion of the segregated parcel, consisting of 25,906 square meters was allocated as the permanent site for the Office of the Ombudsman and the residual area of the segregated parcel, consisting of 16,320 square meters portion was reverted back to the National Housing Authority, for disposition in accordance with existing laws. WHEREAS, there are other government agencies in need of permanent sites for their offices within the National Government Center. WHEREAS, in view of the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman to utilize only 10,000 square meters out of its allocation of 25,906 square meters and in order to accommodate other government agencies desirous of acquiring permanent sites for their offices within the National Government Center, the Office of the Ombudsman and the National Housing Authority, jointly recommended that the 25,906 square meters allocated as permanent site of the Office of the Ombudsman under Proclamation No. 857 Series of 1996, be reduced to TEN THOUSAND (10,000 sq. m.) and the initial residual area of 16,320 for disposition by the National Housing Authority, be increased to THIRTY TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED TWENTY SIX (32,226 sq. m.) and reserved as permanent site for other government agencies. NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 857, dated August 21, 1996, by reducing the area of 25,906 square meters allocated therein as permanent site of the OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN, to 10,000 square meters and by increasing the 16,320 square meters initially allocated therein for disposition by the National Housing Authority, to 32,226 square meters which shall be disposed as permanent site in favor of other government agencies in accordance with existing laws and the policy, rules and regulations of the National Housing Authority on the disposition of institutional properties.1aшphi1 Provisions of Proclamation No. 857, Series of 1996 and other executive administrative issuances which are inconsistent herewith are hereby amended, and modified accordingly.
