DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 19 TO 25, 1998, AS THE GOLDEN JUBILEE WEEK OF THE YOUNG WOMENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION (YWCA) OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, the Young Womens Christian Association (YWCA) of the Philippines, the umbrella organization of 31 Local Associations, organized by a group of YWCA leaders headed by Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez on February 14, 1948, has, during the last five decades, continuously and effectively carried out its Christian mission of social services;

WHEREAS, with its dedicated commitment to work with women and for women the YWCA of the Philippines and all its Local Associations, recognize their responsibility to improve and expand its services for the empowerment of women and girls all over the country;

WHEREAS, the YWCA of the Philippines is conscious of the need for a stronger public awareness about its five decades. of existence, to provide, through its Local Associations, quality programs and services that respond to community needs, works actively for the spiritual, mental and physical development of the youth, improve the status and empowerment of women and attain responsible social and economic changes and reforms in order to achieve PEACE, JUSTICE, and ECONOMIC PROGRESS in the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 19 to 25, 1998 as the GOLDEN JUBILEE WEEK of the YWCA of the Philippines.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
