[ Proclamation No. 1194, April 5, 1998 ]

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 1998, AS PRESIDENT MANUEL A. ROXAS DAY AND A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CAPIZ AND THE CITY OF ROXAS

WHEREAS, the birth anniversary of the late President Manuel A. Roxas, which falls on 1st of January (New Years Day), has not been given due recognition in previous years;

WHEREAS, April 15 marks the death anniversary of President Manuel A. Roxas, orator, statesman, economist, soldier, patriot, and First President of the Republic of the Philippines, whose sterling leadership and ideals were dedicated to the service of the country and the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to give the people of the Province of Capiz and the City of Roxas an ample opportunity to commemorate this event with an appropriate ceremony;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, April 15, 1998, as President Manuel A. Roxas Day and a Special Day in the Province of Capiz and the City of Roxas.
