[ Proclamation No. 1186, April 22, 1998 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, APRIL 24 AND 25, 1998, AS NON-WORKING SPECIAL DAYS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TAGUIG, METRO MANILA

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8487 provides for the conversion of the Municipality of Taguig, Metro Manila into a highly urbanized city to be known as the City of Taguig and mandates the holding of plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections in its Minute-Resolution No. 98-1406 dated April 21, 1998, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Saturday, April 25, 1998;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day and the day prior thereto as special days;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, 1998 as non-working special days in the Municipality of Taguig, Metro Manila.1aшphi1
