[ Proclamation No. 1185, March 25, 1998 ]

DECLARING 1998 AS THE DIAMOND YEAR OF THE ACCOUNTANCY PROFESSION

WHEREAS, on March 17, 1923, the Accountancy Profession was recognized in the Philippines with the enactment of Act No. 3105;

WHEREAS, in 1998, the Accountancy Profession observes its seventy-fifth anniversary or Diamond Year;

WHEREAS, the Accountancy Profession in its seventy-five years history has contributed to nation-building and to the development of accountancy not only in the Philippines, but, also, in Asia;

WHEREAS, to mark the anniversary, appropriate activities have been lined-up by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the national organization of Certified Public Accountants, in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board of Accountancy;

WHEREAS, these activities need the support of all Filipino Certified Public Accountants in Government, Public Practice, Commerce and Industry, and Education, as well as, all government agencies, accounting firms, private companies and schools of accountancy which employ the services of CPAs;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim 1998 as the Diamond Year of the Accountancy Profession;

Consistent with this Proclamation, all Filipino CPAs and all government agencies, accounting firms, private companies and schools of accountancy employing Certified Public Accountants are enjoined to support the activities organized by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board of Accountancy.1aшphi1
