[ Proclamation No. 1180, March 14, 1998 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, MARCH 20 AND 21, 1998, AS NON-WORKING SPECIAL DAYS IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF CALAPAN, ORIENTAL MINDORO; URDANETA, PANGASINAN; VICTORIAS AND TALISAY, BOTH OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, AND KIDAPAWAN, COTABATO

WHEREAS, Republic Act Nos. 8475, 8480, 8488, 8489, and 8500 mandate the conversion of the Municipalities of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Urdaneta, Pangasinan; Victorias and Talisay both of Negros Occidental and Kidapawan, Cotabato into component cities;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections under Resolution Nos. 2994, 3007, 3003, and 3000 respectively, has scheduled the plebiscite date for the conversion of the aforesaid municipalities into component cities on March 20, 1998;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipalities to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day and the day prior thereto as special days;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, 1998 as non-working special days in the Municipalities of Calapan, Province of Oriental Mindoro, Urdaneta, Province of Pangasinan, Victorias and Talisay, both in the Province of Negros Occidental and Kidapawan, Province of Cotabato.1aшphi1
