DECLARING MONDAY, MAY 12, 1997, AS SPECIAL DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, Monday, May 12, 1997, is the scheduled date for the holding of Barangay Elections nationwide;

WHEREAS, there is a need to declare May 12, 1997, as a special day throughout the country to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, May 12, 1997, as special day throughout the country on the occasion of the Barangay Elections.

The various local government units through their respective Chief Local Executives shall extend all possible assistance and support to ensure the smooth conduct of the said elections.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
