DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 21 – 27, 1997 AS CABLE TELEVISION WEEK

WHEREAS, the Philippine International Cable Show 97 will be held on April 23-25, 1997 at the Philippine International Convention Center to be attended by cable operators in the Philippines and other Asian-Pacific countries as well as foreign and local program providers, equipment suppliers, electronic and communication engineers and advertisers;

WHEREAS, the cable TV industry has to develop and grow into a state-of-the-art industry to be able to meet the increasing demands of a highly critical and intelligent viewership;

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the important role of the cable industry to fulfill its vital role in economic progress and technological development in support of Philippines 2000;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 21-27, 1997 as “Cable Television Week”.

For this purpose I call upon all cable operators, program providers, electronic and communications engineers, equipment suppliers, government and private institutions and associations to give the observance of the week their full support.1aшphi1
