DECLARING NOVEMBER 17–23, 1997 AS NATIONAL DANCESPORT WEEK

WHEREAS, the DanceSport Council of the Philippines, in its desire to contribute to the forthcoming Centennial Celebration, is hosting the most prestigious Asian ballroom dancing competition, the 2nd Asian DanceSport Championships, from November 18 to 20, 1997 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Manila;

WHEREAS, the DanceSport Council of the Philippines is the national sport association duly accredited to the Philippine Olympic Committee to promote and prepare the Philippines for international competitions in dancesport;

WHEREAS, the Philippines will be hosting world-class dancers and judges from more than twenty countries from all over the world;

WHEREAS, the timing of this event is most significant as DanceSport has already been accredited by the International Olympic Committee;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare November 17 to 23, 1997 as National DanceSport Week. To ensure the success of this worthy undertaking, the Department of Tourism, Philippine Sports Commission and other government agencies are tasked to support and actively participate in the preparation and implementation of said event.1aшphi1
