DECLARING AN AREA OF PUBLIC DOMAIN SITUATED IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF CALBIGA, WRIGHT AND HINABANGAN, PROVINCE OF SAMAR, AS CALBIGA CAVES PROTECTED LANDSCAPE

Upon recommendation of the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources and pursuant to the powers vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines do hereby set aside and declare an area of public domain situated in the Municipalities of Calbiga, Wright and Hinabangan, Province of Samar as protected area under the category of PROTECTED LANDSCAPE pursuant to R.A. 7586, otherwise known as the NIPAS Act of 1992, subject to private rights, if any, as shown in the DENR Map No. NIPAS RO8-14, more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at a point marked “1” of the DENR Map No. NIPAS RO8-14 being identical to corner No. 15 of Alienable and Disposable, Block I, Project No. 36, LC Map No. 1854 about 1,800 meters South 84 degree East from junction of the National Road and Majacob Creek;

thence S 46º 10" W, 800 meters to point 4;

thence S 63º 00" W, 760 meters to point 5;

Containing an area of TWO THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT (2,968) HECTARES, more or less, subject to ground survey.

The said area shall be known as the Calbiga Caves Protected Landscape as categorized and defined under the National Integrated Protected Area System (NIPAS) Act of 1992, the administration of which shall be under the control of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in coordination with the local government units concerned, and in accordance with the provisions of the NIPAS Act.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
