DECLARING TUESDAY, JULY 15, 1997 AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION
WHEREAS, on July 15, 1987, Executive Order No. 220 created the Cordillera Administrative Region comprising of the Provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga Apayao, Mountain Province and the City of Baguio;
WHEREAS, on this historic day, the Cordillera people finally realized their long cherished dream of a genuine regional autonomy which they have been struggling and clamoring for about more than half a century ago;
WHEREAS, there is a need to provide opportunity for the people of CAR to hold fitting celebrations to highlight the historic significance of the occasion;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27 of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Tuesday, July 15, 1997 as a special day in the Cordillera Administrative Region.1aшphi1
