DECLARING THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER OF EVERY

YEAR AS EXPORTERS WEEK

WHEREAS, Proclamation Order No. 167 (dated 20 April 1993) declares export development as the key to achieving balanced agri-industrial economic growth to the year 2000;

WHEREAS, in order to attain the status of a Newly-Industrializing Country (NIC) by the year 2000, it is necessary to provide a policy climate that will foster economic growth based on global competitiveness and people empowerment;

WHEREAS, the government and the private sector should jointly and continuously work together to sustain the macroeconomic framework that supports export development; and

WHEREAS, there is also a need to catalyze total national commitment to exports from all concerned sectors of society and move as one towards a common vision;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by Law and the Constitution, do hereby declare the first week of December of every year as Exporters Week.
