AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 235, DATED JULY 22, 1967, BY DECLARING THE TAAL VOLCANO ISLAND NATIONAL PARK, PROVINCE OF BATANGAS, ISLAND OF LUZON, AS PROTECTED AREA UNDER THE CATEGORY OF PROTECTED LANDSCAPE

Upon recommendation of the Secretaries of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Tourism (DOT) and the Presidential Commission on Tagaytay-Taal (PCTT) and by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V RAMOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby withdraw from further settlement, entry, sale, explorations or other disposition, subject to private rights, if any there be, Taal Volcano Island, Taal Lake, and the watershed areas situated in the municipalities of Talisay, Malvar, Tanauan, Laurel, Agoncillo, Santa Teresita, Cuenca, Alitagtag, Mataas na Kahoy, Lipa City, Balete and San Nicolas, Province of Batangas and Tagaytay City, Island of Luzon, and declare the same as a PROTECTED LANDSCAPE for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the Philippines, subject to ground survey, delineation and demarcations.

The technical description provided hereunder is based on a table survey and therefore subject to ground survey and verification to be conducted by the DENR, DOT and PCTT for which funds are to be requested for the purposes from Department of Budget and Management.

Taal Volcano Island Protected Landscape is bounded by Taal Lake and its surrounding municipalities which is described as follows:

Beginning at a point marked “1” with a geographical position of 14°09" N latitude, 121°03" E longitude, thence:

S. 45° 00" E., 12,200 m. to point 2;
S. 23° 30" E., 8,800 m. to point 3;
S. 68° 30" W., 4,200 m. to point 4;
S. 27° 30" W., 5,750 m. to point 5;
S. 70° 00" W., 6,050 m. to point 6;
S. 11° 00" W., 2,700 m. to point 7;
S. 41° 30" W., 4,300 m. to point 8;
S. 60° 00" W., 1,650 m. to point 9;
N. 65° 00" W., 5,200 m. to point 10;
N. 39° 00" W., 9,900 m. to point 11;
N. 02° 00" E., 3,100 m. to point 12;
N. 45° 00" W., 7,100 m. to point 13;
N. 15° 00" W., 4,700 m. to point 14;
N. 66° 31" E., 23,963.739 m. to point of

beginning, containing an approximate area of SIXTY TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED NINETY TWO AND 1369/100 (62,292.1369) HECTARES.1aшphi1

It shall be known as the Taal Volcano Protected Landscape. It shall be under the joint supervision of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Presidential Commission on Tagaytay-Taal (PCTT) pursuant to Republic Act No. 7586 (NIPAS ACT of 1992) and Republic Act No. 7623 (Tourism Zone of 1996) and their implementing rules and regulations and Executive Order No. 84 (Creating the Presidential Commission on Tagaytay-Taal), dated April 24, 1993.

The purpose for the establishment of the Protected Landscape is to protect and conserve the ecological, biological, scientific, educational and recreational features of the area and at the same time provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to the tenured migrants without necessarily defacing the natural features of the area.

The DENR, DOT, PCTT and concerned municipalities shall develop the management plan and assign appropriate staff for the proper implementation/supervision of the said plan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
