DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM 15 NOVEMBER TO 15 DECEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS NATIONAL TREE PLANTING MONTH

WHEREAS, the Philippines is committed to the principles set forth in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development;

WHEREAS, the government is pursuing various environment and natural resources programs aimed at providing a wholesome environment to our people in line with the Philippine Strategy for Sustainable Development;

WHEREAS, one of these programs is the tree planting and greening program in all provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and the Constitution, do hereby declare the period from 15 November to 15 December of every year as National Tree Planting Month.

Accordingly, all citizens of the Republic are highly enjoined to participate in tree planting activities during this period under the overall coordination of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and in close cooperation with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, Department of the Interior and Local Government, other concerned national agencies, local government units, non-government organizations and peoples organizations.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 15th day of November in the year of Our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Ninety Six.
