DECLARING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1996 AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF IMUS, PROVINCE OF CAVITE IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HISTORIC “BATTLE OF IMUS”

WHEREAS, it is a historically recognized fact that Philippine Independence was achieved as a result of the heroism of Filipino Revolucionarios and Katipuneros during the Spanish colonial era;

WHEREAS, Cavite was the battleground of countless encounters between the revolucionarios and the Spanish forces;

WHEREAS, the “Battle of Imus” was one such battle where the revolucionarios fought and won against the Spanish forces that turned the tide of battle in favor of the revolucionarios, thereby saving the revolution from collapse and galvanizing the Filipinos to fight on, eventually resulting Philippine Independence;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the people of the Municipality of Imus, Province of Cavite be given the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Tuesday, September 23, 1996, a special day in the Municipality of Imus, Province of Cavite in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the “Battle of Imus”.
