[ Proclamation No. 838, July 23, 1996 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 24 TO 30, 1996, AS “ENTREPRENEURS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Constitution recognizes the important role of Filipino entrepreneurs in our economic development by mandating, in Article XII, Section 10, Congress to “enact measures that will encourage the formation and operation of enterprises whose capital is wholly owned by Filipinos”;

WHEREAS, the Entrepreneurs Society of the Philippines, an association of entrepreneurs with the prime objective of encouraging entrepreneurs as medium for personal and national economic development, has prepared activities for the period covering July 24 to 30, 1996, with the view to promoting this objective;

WHEREAS, 1996 has been declared as “Small and Medium Enterprise Development Year”;

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the invaluable contribution of entrepreneurs to the countrys economic development;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from July 24 to 30, 1996, as “Entrepreneurs Week” under the auspices of the Entrepreneurs Society of the Philippines in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry.1aшphi1
