DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY (MAN-MADE) IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SULTAN SA BARONGIS, PROVINCE OF MAGUINDANAO AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF LAMBAYONG PROVINCE OF SULTAN KUDARAT

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Sultan sa Barongis, Province of Maguindanao and the Municipality of Lambayong, Province of Sultan Kudarat were adversely affected by the attack of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels thereat;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the declaration of a state of calamity in the areas since the attack of the MILF on the military installations on Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat resulted to the displacement of more than 6,000 civilians in the said areas;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of calamity in the Municipality of Sultan sa Barongis, Province of Maguindanao and the Municipality of Lambayong, Province of Sultan Kudarat.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans, directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.
