DECLARING JUNE 4 OF EVERY YEAR AS THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN OF THE PHILIPPINES (NCWP) DAY

WHEREAS, the NCWP in the fifty years since its founding has become the pioneer, largest, and main umbrella network of womens organizations in the country, contributing to nation building, civil well-being, and womens empowerment, through its 208 member affiliates and 3,081 local councils of women with more than 10 million members nationwide;

WHEREAS, the vigor, dedication, contributions and achievement of the NCWP and its members spring and flow from the nurturing vision, leadership, and inspiration of its founder, Dr. Francisca Tirona Benitez, and the distinguished ladies who joined her in founding the NCWP;

WHEREAS, it is only fitting that, during the year-long celebration of the NCWPs 50th Anniversary and in future years, NCWPs continuing achievements, commitment, and contribution to the nations progress and development be appropriately recognized and exalted in tribute not only to its leaders but more importantly to every Filipino woman striving to carry on its mission and objectives;

WHEREAS, it is but proper and fitting that the nation declare an NCWP Day and there can be no better occasion to properly honor the NCWP on its 50th Anniversary and manifest the nations appreciation of its contributions to nation building, civic well-being, and women empowerment than on the 110th birth anniversary of its illustrious founder, Dr. Francisca Tirona Benitez, on June 4, 1996;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 4 of every year as National Council of Women of the Philippines Day.1aшphi1
