DECLARING AS PROTECTED AREA A CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND OF PUBLIC DOMAIN TO BE KNOWN AS THE MOUNT GUITING-GUITING NATURAL PARK EMBRACED AND SITUATED IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF CAJIDIOCAN, MAGDIWANG AND SAN FERNANDO, IN THE ISLAND OF SIBUYAN, PROVINCE OF ROMBLON

Upon recommendation of the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, and pursuant to the powers and authority vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby withdraw from sale, settlements exploitation and exploration, and set aside and declare, for the benefit and enjoyment of Filipino People, and in order to protect the area from destructive activities pursuant to the Republic Act No. 7586 (The NIPAS Law), as Protected Area the terrestrial ecosystem found on a certain parcel of land of the public domain to be known as the Mount Guiting-Guiting Natural Park, subject to private rights, if any there be, embraced and situated in the Municipalities of Cajidiocan, Magdiwang, and San Fernando, Island of Sibuyan, Province of Romblon, which tract of land is more particularly described as follows:

Bounded on the North by unclassified public forest, Municipality of Magdiwang, on the East by unclassified public forest, Municipality of Cajidiocan; and on the South and West by unclassified public forest, Municipality of San Fernando. Beginning on point mark “1” on the map of Mt. Guiting-Guiting Natural Park, N 21 degrees 50W, 10,275.25 meters from BLIM No. 1 of San Fernando, thence:

The said area shall be known as “Mount Guiting-Guiting Natural Park” and shall be under the Natural Park category of the NIPAS Act (R.A. 7586). It shall remain under the control and administration of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in cooperation with the local government units and concerned government and non-government organizations.

The primary purpose for the establishment of the terrestrial reserve is to protect and conserve, on a sustainable basis, the unique and diverse terrestrial habitats and species found therein from destructive human activities.
