[ Proclamation No. 648, September 12, 1995 ]

DECLARING A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE CITY OF CEBU DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF FIRE

WHEREAS, the densely populated areas of Barangays Luz and Calamba in Cebu City were hit successively by fire on September 5 and 6, 1995, respectively, rendering close to 2,000 people homeless;

WHEREAS, there is a urgent need for the declaration of a state of calamity in the said area in order that the local government may make use of its calamity funds for the relief and other emergency requirements of the affected constituents;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of public calamity exists in the City of Cebu.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans, directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
