DECLARING A STATE OF CALAMITY IN BARANGAYS TAGBUROS, SAN JOSE AND STA. LOURDES IN PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN WHICH WERE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY MERCURY POISONING

WHEREAS, twenty six (26%) percent of the population of the barangays of Tagburos, San Jose and Sta. Lourdes in Puerto Princesa, Palawan were affected by mercury poisoning;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the declaration of a state of calamity in barangays Tagburos, San Jose and Sta. Lourdes in view of the effects of mercury poisoning, and in order that the province may make use of its calamity fund for the relief and other emergency requirements of the affected constituents;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of public calamity exists in the barangays of Tagburos, San Jose and Sta. Lourdes in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operations plans, directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set any hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
