[ Proclamation No. 627, August 11, 1995 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 3 TO 10 EVERY YEAR AS “LINGGO NG LAANG-KAWAL” (NATIONAL RESERVIST WEEK)

WHEREAS, September 1 of every year is declared as “Araw ng Laang-Kawal Pilipino” or Reservist Day to underscore the importance of military reservists throughout the country and exhort them to rededicate themselves to the task of nation-building pursuant to Proclamation No. 1892, dated August 30, 1979;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Republic Act 7077, otherwise known as the citizen Armed Force Act or Armed Forces of the Philippines Reservist Act of 1991, the State shall promote and develop public support to and awareness of the important role of the Citizen Armed Force as protector of the people and the State;

WHEREAS, certain activities planned to be conducted for this year are designed to enhance the peoples awareness and rally public support for the reserve components of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which necessitates the declaration of a period within the month of September of this year as a National Reservist Week in consonance with the abovecited national policies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from September 3 to 10 of every year as “Linggo ng Laang-Kawal Pilipino” (National Reservist Week .1aшphi1
