DECLARING JULY 1995 TO JULY 1996 AS GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS YEAR

WHEREAS, government and the private sector are cognizant of the need for Philippine industry and business to be globally competitive;

WHEREAS, various private sector organizations working with the appropriate government agencies have taken initiatives toward assisting domestic-based industries and businesses to be globally competitive;

WHEREAS, there exists little awareness that many domestic-based industries and businesses are, in fact, already competitive in quality with the best the world has to offer;

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to increase public awareness of the high quality of many local goods and services, give due recognition to entrepreneurs and manufacturers who produce items and services Filipinos can rightly be proud of, and motivate businessmen to strive for even greater excellence in the quality of their products;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare July 1995 to July 1996 as “GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS YEAR.”

The Buy Philippine Made Movement, Inc. together with other business organizations and industry associations, in coordination with the Bureau of Product Standards and the Department of Trade and Industry, is hereby authorized to lead in the observance of the GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS YEAR by conducting appropriate programs and activities.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
