DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PILAR, MARIVELES, BALANGA, ABUCAY, PROVINCE OF BATAAN, TERNATE, ROSARIO, BACOOR AND NOVELETA, PROVINCE OF CAVITE WHICH WERE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY RED-TIDE INFESTATION

WHEREAS, the Secretary of National Defense and Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) recommends the declaration of a state of calamity in the Municipalities of Pilar, Mariveles, Balanga, Abucay, Province of Bataan, Ternate, Rosario, Bacoor and Noveleta, Province of Cavite, in view of the red-tide infestation which has adversely affected the fishermen and shellfish gatherers of the areas;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the declaration of a state of calamity in the areas in order that the local government units may make use of their calamity funds for livelihood assistance;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of public calamity in the Municipalities of Pilar, Mariveles, Balanga, Abucay, Province of Bataan, Ternate, Rosario, Bacoor and Noveleta, Province of Cavite.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans, directives, and orders issued in accordance with calamities.
