[ Proclamation No. 593, June 7, 1995 ]

DECLARING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 1995 AS NATIONAL CENSUS MONTH

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, entitled “An Act Providing for the Taking of an Integrated Census Every Ten Years Beginning in the Year Nineteen Hundred and Eighty, and for Other Purposes”, provides for the conduct of the national census of population and other related data every decade beginning in 1980;

WHEREAS, the 1991 Local Government Code sets the population census counts as benchmarks for Internal Revenue Allocation (IRA) and for creation and conversion of local government units;

WHEREAS, there is a strong clamor and widespread representation from the local government units and other sectors for the conduct of a mid-decade census of population;

WHEREAS, congress finds cognizance thereof and has appropriated a national budget thereof;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 1995 as the NATIONAL CENSUS MONTH.

All departments and other government agencies, including government-owned or controlled corporations, as well as local government units, are hereby directed to implement and execute the operational plans, directives, and orders of the National Statistical Coordination Board, through the National Statistics Office, relative to this Proclamation Order.

Everyone is called upon to give this activity the support and cooperation for its success.1aшphi1
