[ Proclamation No. 574, September 27, 1995 ]

DECLARING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 1995 AS “WORLD TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS MONTH”

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 320, series of 1994, declared the period from the 1990 to 2000 as the “Decade of Physical Fitness and Sports”;

WHEREAS, the “12th World Taekwondo Championships” and the “5th Womens World Taekwondo Championships” are scheduled to be held from 17-21 November 1995 at the Folk Arts Theater;

WHEREAS, the said Championships will be participated in by an estimated 120 countries with an attendance of about 1,200 athletes and officials and could be the biggest single sports meet to be hosted by the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the hosting of the “12th World Taekwondo Championships” and the “5th Womens World Taekwondo Championships” is likewise an opportune occasion to show-case the country as a tourist destination and invite the world to visit the Philippines;

WHEREAS, to ensure the success of the biggest sporting events of 1995, the cooperation of the both the public and private sector is essential;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of November 1995 as World Taekwondo Championships Month.1aшphi1 The Organizing Committee of the “12th World Taekwondo Championships” and the “5th Womens World Taekwondo Championships” is directed to act as the lead agency in planning, disseminating information and conducting the said sporting events.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
