[ Proclamation No. 573, May 3, 1995 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, MAY 8, 1995, AS SPECIAL DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, Section 1, Article XVIII of the 1987 Constitution provides that the first elections of Members of the Congress shall be held on the second Monday of May, 1987;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the said Constitutional mandate, the elections for the Members of the Congress will be held on Monday, May 8, 1995;

WHEREAS, Monday, May 8, 1995, should be declared a special day to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate the said elections;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, Monday, May 8, 1995, as special day throughout the country.
