[ Proclamation No. 567, April 24, 1995 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 1995, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE CITY OF BAGUIO

WHEREAS, the 50th anniversary of the landing by Allied Forces in the City of Baguio will be observed in said City on April 27, 1995;

WHEREAS, the liberation of the City of Baguio fifty years ago was part of the continuing campaign for the liberation of the island of Luzon and the entire Philippines from enemy occupation during World War II;

WHEREAS, this event was made possible through effective ground support provided by the Filipino guerrillas and the other citizens of neighboring towns.

WHEREAS, the people of the City of Baguio affirm their continued loyalty to the principles of freedom and democracy;

WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the residents of the City of Baguio to be given time to reflect on the significance of the occasion and the full opportunity to celebrate the date with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, April 27, 1995, as a special day in the City of Baguio.1aшphi1

For this purpose, I call upon the Local Government of the City of Baguio to spearhead the activities to celebrate the liberation in meaningful rites and ceremonies.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
