[ Proclamation No. 533, February 7, 1995 ]

DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF LOBO, PROVINCE OF BATANGAS, HINIGARAN, PROVINCE OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, AND CATIGBIAN, PROVINCE OF BOHOL WHICH WERE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY BIG WAVES AND FIRE

WHEREAS, the National Disaster Coordinating Council recommends the declaration of a State of Public Calamity in the following areas;

Lobo, Batangas, due to the adverse effects of the big waves generated by the earthquake in Oriental Mindoro on November 15, 1994;

Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, in view of the fire at Barangay I where 30% of the population was rendered homeless;

Catigbian, Bohol, due to the conflagration on June 7, 1994 which totally destroyed the public market, on which the municipality depends on for revenues to finance its vital projects;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of public calamity in the municipalities of Lobo, Batangas, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, and Catigbian, Bohol, which were adversely affected by big waves and fire.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.
