DECLARING FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1995, THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF MANILA, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA

WHEREAS, February 3, 1995, marks the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Manila from enemy occupation during World War II.

WHEREAS, this historic day should properly and fittingly be observed to immortalize the strong spirit of liberation which was paramount in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people, particularly Manilans during the short-lived enemy occupation.

WHEREAS, the celebration of this landmark day should center on the urgency of inculcating in the peoples minds the need to exercise constant vigilance in the maintenance and preservation of our democratic principles based on freedom, justice, peace and genuine love for country as the priceless legacy bequeathed to us by our forefathers.

WHEREAS, the City of Manila and its people should be given every opportunity to commemorate the 50th Liberation of Manila with appropriate activities that would actualize the preservation of the principles of freedom, liberty and nationalism as components of the totality of Filipino values.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V.1aшphi1 RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, February 3, 1995, as a Special Day in the City of Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 1st day of February, in the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Five.
