[ Proclamation No. 521, January 6, 1995 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, JANUARY 9, 1995, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF PANGASINAN

WHEREAS, the 50th anniversary of the Lingayen Gulf Landings will be observed in Lingayen, Pangasinan, and neighboring cities and municipalities, on January 7-9, 1995;

WHEREAS, the landings of US and Allied Forces in the cities/municipalities of Lingayen, Sual, Binmaley, San Fabian, Dagupan, and San Carlos on January 7-9, 1995, marked the start of the liberation of the island of Luzon from enemy occupation during World War II;

WHEREAS, the people of Pangasinan affirm their continued loyalty to the principles of freedom and democracy, for which they need time to appropriately observe and reflect on the significance of the occasion;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, January 9, 1995, as a special day in the Province of Pangasinan.1aшphi1

For this purposes, I call upon the Local Government of Pangasinan to spearhead the activities to celebrate the landings in the Lingayen Gulf in meaningful rites and ceremonies.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
