[ Proclamation No. 433, July 31, 1994 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 1 TO 7 OF EVERY YEAR AS RURAL ELECTRIFICATION WEEK

WHEREAS, R.A. 6038 was enacted on August 4, 1969, declaring a National Policy objective for the Total Electrification of the Philippines on an area coverage basis;

WHEREAS, R.A. 6038 provided for the creation and establishment of an agency that would carry out the mission and objectives of said Act to be called the National Electrification Administration (NEA);

WHEREAS, the same Act mandated the organization, promotion and development of Electric Cooperatives;

WHEREAS, the Rural Electrification Program as envisioned by R.A. 6038 as amended by P.D. No. 269 and P.D. No. 1645 has grown by leaps and bounds over the past twenty-five (25) years, through the efforts of the Electric Cooperatives and the National Electrification Administration;

WHEREAS, the pioneering and continuing meritorious achievements of the men and women of the Electric Cooperatives and of the National Electrification Administration have to be recognized;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from August 1 to 7 of every year as Rural Electrification Week.1aшphi1
